No matter the economic climate, there are always apartments for rent. They may be expensive, like in Davos, Switzerland (of course those would be booked for the WEF), or if you have the credit and can get a loan, maybe check Zillow for homes and find out if you are able to purchase instead of rent. This places you in a situation where you must stay put, and apartments are no longer an option. Maybe, rent your vacation at Massanutten! I don’t know if Zillow has those values.
There are homes that people around the world swap for vacations. Find one in Davos and go skiing! Massanutten has the timeshare points program, so you could rent apartments in another state when traveling. If you have that cash position, rent may be the best option for you, because you can “try before you buy”. Like city life? There are bound to be apartments for rent in your favorite areas. How about the slower-paced rural idea? Again, homes and farms are for rent all over. You could be on a mini-vacation every year!
If you are in the fortunate position of having an extra property, one income-generating method is placing it for rent. There are many homes and apartments for rent the are owned by private individuals. They do this sometimes to finance other properties, for retirement income, or maybe because it was inherited. Massanutten has properties for rent, but they are also owned. The timeshare model is a little strange, but those are also put up for rent. They are pretty nice places, if you can’t go far away, like Davos. How much to charge for rent? Check Zillow online.
Pricing places for rent, or when checking apartments and their equivalent value, is a balancing act. If the rent is too high, people will settle for apartments. If it is too low, you may not cover your costs. That can be acceptable, if you are holding it for a long period of time as an investment. The prices for homes on Zillow fluctuate from year to year. I don’t know how much homes cost in Davos, but I expect even apartments are pricey. Maybe Massanutten will put my homes in-network?
Have a large group coming into town, and need apartments to house everybody for an indeterminent period of time? Don’t want your invasion to be quartered in other people’s homes? You are an conscientious dictator, and don’t want to aggravate your peons? Go to Zillow and look for apartments for rent; problem solved! Apartments are usually owned by corporations, and since you are nationalizing everything, you don’t harm those who own their homes and farms, and you also save on the rent! Tramping through vacation areas, such as Davos? Check Massanutten listings, they have apartments for rent (they are homes, but in reality they are all attached, like apartments). Instant R&R for your troop. Stay in the pool, rent-free!
Your little-known province doesn’t participate at Davos? Nothing to worry about, because as you lay claim to the homes and apartments you come by, you are creating wealth. How? By removing places to rent, and thus having more marketshare, you lessen the supply, and demand prices for rent go up. Are you against kapitalism and all it’s evils? Well, you must still function with the rest of the world, and whether it is homes or apartments for rent, you still need to supply goods and services to your masses. How will you do it? Rent your country to the dictator next door! Careful, you may be the next one to rent the palace pool house, though…
